What is SALACOA?

Who We Are

The executive team at SALACOA is a group of dedicated members who have been nominated and approved by our general membership to lead our association. You can find a list of our executives, their roles and responsibilities, as well as the Salacoa Constitution and By-laws below. The team plans and organizes lake events, acts as environmental stewards, produces informational products like newsletters and meeting documents, manages the SALACOA website, and liaises with local Ratepayers Associations.

Where is Salmon Lake?

Salmon Lake is nestled in the County of Peterborough, within the Municipality of Trent Lakes, and lies northeast of the Nogies Creek sub-watershed that extends from Pigeon Lake to Crystal Lake.

PRESIDENT

Lead Salacoa’s annual program and agenda

  • Lead Salacoa’s annual program and agenda

    - Work with Execs to do Salacoa’s strategic planning, direction and initiatives

    - Provide support and resources to directors and co-ordinators to help them succeed in their work.


    Ensure Salacoa is:

    - addressing the needs of the membership

    - following its own bylaws

    - recruiting talent to fill any vacancies on Exec or outside roles

    - ensure information infrastructure in place to run Salacoa effectively


SECRETARY
Ashley Collins

Ensure Salacoa operates according to its bylaws and government regulations

  • Record and share meeting minutes, arrange for posting to website

    - Know where all Salacoa info is stored.

    - Help plan, organize AGM

    - Plan 2-3 newsletters, delegate content creation to others as appropriate, proofread and send to Membership Liaison to issue

    - Maintain a list of Salacoa Execs, when they joined/left, and their roles (and when they were in

    - those roles)

TREASURER
Open Role!

Keeper of Salacoa’s vault. Track monies in and out.

  • - Prepare annual planning budget, advise Executive on responsible spending

    - Log/annotate all monies in and out in budget spreadsheet

    - Pay bills, process any donations

    - Get competitive quotes for any vendors/services, as needed

    - End of year bank reconciliation, prepare balance sheet and income statement

    - Prepare taxes and file with CRA.

MEMBER LIAISON
Carla Henderson & Brad Taylor

Be the main communications link between Salacoa and the membership

  • - Using member database, use emails to be communications link between Salacoa and the membership

    - Run membership drive in August, strive to maximize membership

    - Receive dues and process in BMO account, send payment confirmations, website p/w, etc. to members that pay.

    - Keep membership database and lake map up-to-date

    - Issue emails to welcome new residents to the lake; encourage them to join Salacoa.

    - Issue flash emails when truly important info needs to be sent (e.g. storms and storm damage,

    - power failures, unexpected passing of a lake community member, etc.)

    - Run Ice Out Contest

COMMUNITY LIAISON
Les Clark

Be the liaison between Salacoa and local government and service organizations

  • Be the liaison between Salacoa and:

    - Municipality of Trent Lakes

    - Local organizations (for example, NORKLA, CCRAI, Kawartha Land Trust, Music In The Park,

    - Kinmount Gazette, The Land Between, local charities, Haliburton Fish Hatchery, etc.)

    - FOCA

    - Local utility companies, esp. Hydro One, but also Bell, Rogers.

Source donations for all draws and raffles. Thank donors.

  • - Source donations for any draws/raffles. (e.g. Membership Draw, Picnic Raffle, Grand Prize)

ENVIRONMENTAL & LAKE STEWARD

Provide guidance and advice to Salacoa on all environmental and lake stewardship issues
